(Q) When can a school of nursing schedule clinincal groups?

(A) A meeting is scheduled for August of each year to set dates and locations for the next year. Information will be sent to the school clinical coordinator.
(Q) When can schools apply for nursing senior precepted experiences?
(A) Requests for placement should be received by August 1st for the fall semester and November 1st for the spring semester. Use this form to place individuals. Nursing placement is coordinated by Marge Burke. To contact Marge, please call 414-326-2617 or email mburke1@columbia-stmarys.org.

(Q) If a senior precepted form is turned in by the deadline, will my student get a placement?

(A) This depends on the number of students applying and the availability of a preceptor. The Columbia College of Nursing will get first choice of spaces available. Additional spaces will then be assigned based on the unit's capacity.

(Q) Will I get the unit or shift I request?

(A) Be as flexible as possible when indicating your availability. Conisder all shifts and days of the week, including nights and weekends. Some of the best clinical experiences have occured with students assigned to the night shift.

(Q) Where can I park when I am assigned to a specific campus?

If you are assigned to the St. Mary's Milwaukee Campus, you may park in the employee ramp located at North Ave. and Prospect for your rotation. If you are assigned to the St. Mary's Ozaukee campus, you may park in the employee lot at the very sourthern end of the campus. Click here to get a copy of the parking lot diagram.
